About Orpheus Sinfonia

Vibrant, dynamic and inspiring, Orpheus Sinfonia deliver exceptional performances, exploring new and ground-breaking avenues, while actively engaging with accessible performances, outreach work and community interaction.

Experience music differently

Orpheus Sinfonia is one of London’s most vibrant and versatile orchestras. We are a charitable orchestra, dedicated to making world-class music accessible to all. Under the artistic direction of conductor and cellist Thomas Carroll, through our various arms we bring together some of the UK’s most talented emerging and established musicians to give exceptional performances across concert halls, festivals, and bespoke events.

From symphonic repertoire and opera to world premières, film scores, immersive productions and education projects, Orpheus is defined by its versatility and spirit of innovation. We are resident orchestra at St George’s Hanover Square, with recent appearances at the Royal Festival Hall, Hackney Empire, Windsor Castle, and the Southbank Centre. Festival invitations have included Cheltenham, Windsor, Newbury, Cambridge and Beaminster, alongside collaborations with leading soloists and artists from across the international stage. In 2025 Orpheus became a commissioning orchestra, continuing our passion in championing the world’s leading female composers, with commissions from Cheryl Frances-Hoad, Roxanna Panufnik, Sally Beamish and more.

At the heart of Orpheus lies a commitment to nurturing future generations of musicians and audiences. Our Foundation Programme offers invaluable professional development and mentoring for recent graduates, while our Community and Education projects open up music to children and adults who might otherwise lack access. We also bring music into the wider community through partnerships with charities, hospices, and schools, ensuring the transformative power of live performance reaches those most in need.

Driven by a passion for excellence, imagination, and inclusivity, Orpheus Sinfonia continues to redefine what an orchestra can be—bold, innovative, collaborative, and deeply rooted in the belief that music can inspire, uplift and connect us all.

Our heartfelt thanks for the generous support of our Patrons, Sponsors, Benefactors, and Trusts & Foundations who make our continued work possible.

Our venue

Handel’s church, in the heart of Mayfair, has been our London home since we were formed back in 2009. Its central location, wonderful acoustics and stunning interior make it a perfect London venue for Orpheus Sinfonia.
