Community

We believe in the transformative powers of music to unite communities.

Alongside our residency at St George’s Hanover Square, Orpheus Sinfonia works in communities across London and the South of England, bringing world-class music to those who might not otherwise have access.

We run community residencies that connect people directly with our musicians, offering concerts, workshops, and projects designed to inspire, educate and bring people together. At the same time, we support the professional development of our artists, ensuring they can share their creativity in meaningful ways.

Since our founding in 2009, Orpheus has been committed to making music a transformative force—supporting musicians at the start of their careers and ensuring our performances reach the communities that need them most.

Churchill Gardens, Pimlico

Orpheus Sinfonia first came to Churchill Gardens in Pimlico while using the Residents Hall for rehearsals. Through this connection, and in collaboration with local residents and Westminster City Council, we became the community’s resident orchestra—bringing live music directly into the heart of the estate.

Since the inaugural performances of Fred and the Fantastic Tub-Tub for local schools in 2022, Orpheus has performed to thousands of Churchill Gardens residents through tailored concerts and events. Highlights have included V.E. Day commemorations, festive Christmas celebrations in the community gardens, and summer open-air “Night at the Movies” performances.

With generous support from Westminster City Council, Orpheus continues to grow this partnership, working alongside groups such as Pimlico Angels, Pimlico Toy Library and Pimlico Million to deliver innovative, inspiring music-making that unites and uplifts the local community.

“As a resident of Churchill Gardens I think this is a wonderful initiative and a true gift and blessing to the community – well done.”

Priory Estate, Slough

Orpheus first connected with the Priory School in Slough after recognising the lack of music provision in the area and the barriers that prevented pupils from accessing cultural opportunities.

With initial support from the Ashley Foundation, we brought Fred and the Fantastic Tub-Tub to the school—an immensely successful project that highlighted both the need for engagement and the powerful impact live music could make.

Since then, Orpheus has become the school’s resident orchestra, building a long-term relationship that brings music directly into the heart of the Priory Estate community. Through accessible performances and creative projects, we are helping to ensure children and families can experience music as an inspiring, inclusive part of daily life.
