Our venue
St George’s, Hanover Square
Since our founding in 2009, Orpheus Sinfonia has been proud to call St George’s Hanover Square our London home. In the heart of Mayfair, this beautiful Georgian church is renowned for its superb acoustics, stunning architecture, and rich cultural heritage—an inspiring setting for our performances.

Designed by John James and completed in 1725, St George’s has long been associated with great music. Handel himself lived just a few steps away in Brook Street and worshipped here, leaving a legacy that continues to resonate through the space. Today, Orpheus Sinfonia is honoured to carry forward that tradition, bringing vibrant performances to audiences in a venue that unites history, beauty, and musical excellence.
The wider Hanover Square area has for centuries been a hub of London’s musical life, once home to the famous Hanover Square Rooms where Haydn, Mendelssohn, Paganini, and Clara Schumann performed. While those rooms are long gone, St George’s remains a living, breathing cultural landmark, continuing to welcome world-class music to the centre of the city.
For Orpheus Sinfonia, St George’s is more than just a concert venue—it is a musical home where heritage and creativity meet, and where audiences can experience outstanding music in one of London’s most atmospheric settings.
