Windsor International String Competition: Final

Join us in Eton College’s stunning School Hall for the first ever Windsor International String Competition Final with full orchestra, as we celebrate its 10th anniversary.

The three chosen finalists will give Concerto performances with Orpheus Sinfonia of some of the finest works ever written, to compete for the coveted title of WFISC Winner 2026. Cast your vote for the Audience Prize, and don’t miss out on your chance to say you heard them in Windsor first!

Finalists will each choose one concerto from the competition list:

Violin:
Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major
Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto in E minor
Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto in D major

Viola:
Stamitz: Viola Concerto No. 1 in D major
Hoffmeister: Viola Concerto in D major
Walton Viola: Concerto

Cello:
Haydn: Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major
Schumann: Cello Concerto in A minor
Elgar: Cello Concerto in E minor

First Prize
£5,000 cash prize
A solo recording opportunity with WFISC Recording Partner Champs Hill Records
A concerto with WFISC Associate Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, in the 2027 Windsor Festival
Further concerto performances with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as part of their UK touring programme
A concerto commission from Sally Beamish
A London concerto performance with Orpheus Sinfonia, giving the world premiere of the Sally Beamish commission
Recital opportunities including at La Mortella, Ischia, Italy and UK Festivals
